Adult Learners at the GU/MSB-Brooklyn Center Campus

At our Brooklyn Center, MN, campus of Globe University/Minnesota School of Business (GU/MSB) many of our students are adult learners. These are people with significant experience in the workforce. Many of them have taken college classes before enrolling at GU/MSB. In addition to being students, they take care of families, contribute to their communities and work demanding jobs.

Diverse students committed to success

The average age of a student at our Brooklyn Center campus is 28. Many are attending college because they wish to make career changes or advance more quickly in their current positions. They are diverse, representing many ethnicities and communities in the west metro area of the Twin Cities. They share a determination to obtain the education and training they need for successful careers.

Flexible scheduling makes college possible

Finding the time to earn a four-year or two-year degree or diploma can be challenging for adult learners. We have developed flexible course schedules to give students with busy lives, family responsibilities and jobs as many options as possible. We provide day, evening and weekend classes. Students can attend full-time or part-time. They can take classes throughout the year.

Online degrees help many adult learners

They can earn credits toward their degrees or diplomas by taking online classes. We have many programs available completely online. Students can also combine online classes with on-campus study at our Brooklyn Center campus. They can even take classes that are partly online and partly residential. These hybrid classes are often excellent choices for students whose travel frequently.

Students take classes at any of our locations

They can take classes at any of our 11 other campus locations, including our seven Twin Cities area locations. This allows them to continue with their programs even when a needed class is not available at our Brooklyn Center campus.  This flexibility allows them to complete their programs more quickly. .

Obtain credit for prior learning and experience

Many of our adult learners have taken college classes elsewhere. Furthermore, many of them have years of job experience. GU/MSB offers credit toward degree or diploma programs for students with prior learning and on-the-job training. This feature of our school is often helpful to military students—veterans, active duty service members and their families—who can apply credits received for military training to their degrees and diplomas. Unlike some other colleges, we do not charge tuition for credits awarded for prior learning and training.
