People increasingly rely on massage therapists to deal with stress, anxiety, injury and disease.  Massage therapy is a rewarding career that returns the investment made in training. Massage therapists know they can help people feel better. They are often able to work part-time or enjoy flexible scheduling. Massage is a field with excellent job satisfaction. At MSB, the teachers are really one-on-one with you. The class sizes are really small and they will spend the time with you and answer your questions to the fullest.  They are there with you through everything to help you get through.

Travis was named Massage Therapist of the Year at Massage Envy, a national massage company, in 2009. He was awarded an all-expense-paid trip to Arizona to attend a professional conference.

Learn different massage techniques

At our Brooklyn Center, MN, campus. we offer training in massage therapy. Students can choose between an associate degree and a diploma.  Whichever path a student selects, they will be trained in a variety of techniques and modalities, including the following:

Courses that lead to certifications

Associate degree students also take 30 credits of general education, which strengthen their communication skills and develop their critical thinking abilities.  To earn an AAS degree, students must complete 90 credits, while a technical diploma only requires 48 credits. Students may be able to complete diploma programs in as little as 12 months; an associate degree usually takes a minimum of 18 months of full time study.

Graduates of the associate degree program are eligible to take the principal massage therapy certification exams:

  • The National Certification Exam of Therapeutic Massage (NCETM) provided by National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB)
  • Massage and Bodywork Licensing Exam (MBLEx) provided by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB)

Students may be eligible to receive our Professional Certification Scholarship to cover the cost of certification exams.

Most classes have a non-classroom clinic component that allows massage students to practice their skills.  For information about our clinics or an appointment, call  612-436-8550.
