Save Time and Money with Prior Learning Credit


Students can substantially reduce the amount of time needed to earn their college degrees or technical diplomas from Globe University/Minnesota School of Business-Brooklyn Center (GU/MSB). This can save them time and money and may allow them to enter the workforce more quickly.

How prior learning credit (PLC) works

  • Transfer of credit. A student may transfer up to 75% of needed credits from other institutions (depending on the program). Credits are evaluated for transfer in light of the educational quality of the first institution and the appropriateness and applicability of the transfer credits to the student’s program.
  • Military transfer. We may award college credit for military service documented on a military transcript.
  • Advanced standing and other tests. We may award college credit for proficiency in a subject demonstrated by AP tests, DANTES/CLEP tests or advanced standing tests administered by the education department of GU/MSB-Brooklyn Center.
  • Professional training. We may award college credit for training completed for professional licensing or other work-related training.
  • Professional work experience. Students may receive college credit for learning occupational, supervisory or management skills while working in industry, business, military, professional and service occupations. Each request for prior learning and transfer credit is evaluated by our education department in light of the student’s educational program and the type of credits submitted for evaluation. There are time restrictions, specific courses that must be completed at GU/MSB-Brooklyn Center, and limits on the requirements that can be satisfied by credit for prior learning.
